After his service, Michael resumed riding in England and France until an injury in 1969 forced him to retire. This is when he started his journey into the saddlery business.
Michael travelled extensively, including Australia and Africa, until he was brought to Canada in 1973 in order to manage a well-known Thoroughbred farm.
In 1975, Michael started his Saddlery business full-time in Richmond Hill and now supplies quality custom leatherwork to such noteable riders as:
- Neil & Cindy Ishoy (for more than 20 years)
- Jeannie & Gary VanderPloeg
- Gina Smith
- Shannon Oldham-Dueck
- Nancy MacLachlan
- Gillian Sutherland
- plus many other riders in the dressage disciplines
