First Day of Competition at Tournament of Champions

As the fifth annual Tournament of Champions got underway today at York Equestrian Centre, it became apparent why York Region is the horse capital of Canada. Riders from the area took home top ribbons in competition illustrating both the depth of equestrian talent and participation in the region.

In the Grand Prix Ring, the top show jumpers got a feel for the ring where they will be competing for top money in the feature events that begin tomorrow with the first phase of the $75,000 Canada Cup. Canada’s talented up and coming young riders also got their first taste of competition as they entered the first phase of the Next Generation division.
