Beatrice Boucher Named Red Scarf Equestrian Dressage Athlete of the Month

Beatrice Boucher of Saint-Dominique, QC has been named the Red Scarf Equestrian Dressage Athlete of the Month for August 2018 in recognition of her standout medal-winning performances at the 2018 North American Youth Championships (NAYC), held July 31-Aug. 5 in North Salem, NY.

Boucher kicked off her run at NAYC 2018 with a gold team medal in the Young Riders Team Competition on Aug. 1. She and Delfiano, a 15-year-old Hanoverian gelding owned by Gilles Bergeron and sired by Del Piero, placed seventh with a score of 68.471%. Alongside teammates, Rakeya Moussa of Edmonton, AB and Camille Carier Bergeron of Mascouche, QC, Boucher’s performance contributed to Team Quebec/Alberta’s untouchable score of 210.145 for the win.

Motivated by her first medal of NAYC 2018, Boucher rounded out her collection with back-to-back silver medals. On Aug. 3, she and Delfiano excelled in the Individual Competition with a score of 71.0295% for second place. Boucher’s marks continued to improve in the Freestyle on Aug. 5, in which she earned 72.800% for the silver medal, giving her the distinction of the most decorated NAYC 2018 dressage athlete.

“I feel really honoured to be named Red Scarf Athlete of the Month for my last competition in the Young Rider division at NAYC,” said Boucher. “During this last year, I have grown as an athlete and I can see the difference in the ring. I have ridden Delfiano for a year and an half, and this just encourages me to pursue my dreams and work towards the next level. It is great that our country recognizes our hard work and the performances!”
