Ainsley Vince Tops Jump Canada Series

Ainsley Vince of Milton, ON and Catch 22, an 11-year-old Dutch warmblood gelding owned by Trinity Farms, are the leaders in the Jump Canada Standings heading in to the final stop on the tour, the Royal Horse Show. Vince has accumulated 240.35 points over the season in the national series.

Sitting just behind Vince in second position, with 227.2 points, is Karen Cudmore of Omaha, NE. Riding the nine-year-old Holsteiner stallion Conejo, owned by her husband and coach Blaire Cudmore. Cudmore and Conejo have placed consistently throughout the summer and represented Canada at the World Equestrian Games (WEG) in Jerez, ESP.

With a total of 176.05 points, Eric Lamaze of Schomberg, ON, is in third position riding Mill Creek Raphael, a 13-year-old Hannoverian gelding owned by Mill Creek Stables. Lamaze riding Mill Creek Raphael also represented Canada at WEG.

Not far behind Lamaze is the 2001 Jump Canada Series Champion Jill Henselwood of Oxford Mills, ON. Henselwood aboard Toyzrus, a 12-year-old Dutch warmblood mare currently has 167.7 points.

Rounding out the top five is Heather Manbert-Serniuk of Milton, ON, riding Just Julia, an 11-year-old Dutch Warmblood mare owned by Janet Manbert. Manbert-Serniuk presently has 162.05 points.

The Jump Canada Series has proven successful in providing a national jumper circuit with high standards of competition across the country. The current standings are calculated using the best six results plus the final event of the series, the $60,000 World Cup Qualifier held November 13, 2002, at the Royal Horse Show in Toronto, ON. The prestigious Jump Canada trophy, generously donated by Barbara Anderson of Alberta, will be awarded to the Series winner at the Royal Horse Show.


Greenhawk has generously shown its support of show jumping in Canada by donating a luxurious Shedrow fitted polar fleece cooler to the overall champion of the Jump Canada Series.


Past winners of the Jump Canada Series are Beth Underhill and Altair in 1999, Frankie Chesler and Ravenna Z in 2000, and Jill Henselwood and Toyzrus in 2001.


Jump Canada is a committee of Equine Canada responsible for all hunter, hunter equitation and jumper activities in Canada from the grass roots to the international level. Jump Canada is governed by a board of directors, the majority of whom are elected by the stakeholders in the sport.
