Karen Cudmore Remains at Top of Canadian World Cup Standings

Following her stellar season, Karen Cudmore, originally from Victoria, BC, and now based in Omaha, Nebraska, leads the Canadian World Cup standings with an outstanding 58 points. As Cudmore has competed in six World Cup Qualifiers in 2002, with only the best four to count, she is not eligible to receive World Cup points at the Royal. She finishes the World Cup season with 58.


Finishing first at both the Blainville World Cup Qualifier and the Concours Hippique de Quebec World Cup Qualifier, Cudmore rose to the top of the standings aboard Conejo, a nine-year-old Holsteiner stallion owned by husband and coach, Blair Cudmore. Her fourth place finish at the Caledon World Cup Qualifier, held July 28, added 11 points to her previous total, increasing her lead in the standings by 14 points.

Melissa Brown of Claremont, ON, jumps to second place in the World Cup Standings with a total of 44 points heading into her final qualifying class at Toronto’s Royal Horse Show. She collected 18 points for her win at the Caledon World Cup Qualifier aboard Karolus K, a 10-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding.


Ainsley Vince from Milton, ON, moves to third spot with a total of 39 points.


The $60,000 World Cup Qualifier, the final event of the Canadian World Cup League, will take place Wednesday, November 13 at Toronto’s Royal Horse Show. Following the Royal World Cup Qualifier, the top two riders in the Canadian League World Cup standings will be invited to compete in the annual World Cup Finals, to be held in Las Vegas, NV, April 16-20, 2003.


With 20 points up for grabs for the winner of Royal World Cup Qualifier, the race is still wide open for the two spots to the World Cup Finals.
