Luc Fournier Named new CEO of Bromont WEG 2018

The 2018 World Equestrian Games Board of Directors have announced the appointment of Luc Fournier as the new Chief Executive Officer for the 2018 FEI World Equestrian Games in Bromont. Fournier is taking over the reings from Paul Côté, who held the position for a mere 13 months.

"Three years before the Games, his talent and his large experience in major events will renew the energy of the team and he can count on our full support and confidence” said François Duffar, chairman of the Board.

The press release issued by the Organizing Committee states that Fournier is the assistant deputy minister for the Quebec Minister of education, recreation and sport since 2013 and was executive director for the Canada Games, held two years ago in Sherbrooke, Quebec. A graduate of the Université du Québec in Trois-Rivières and in Chicoutimi in leisure sciences and management, he spearheaded the Québec Games in 1997, the Québec Carnival  from 1997 to 2002, as well as the Major International Events Network (MIEN) from 2002 to 2010 and the Canadian Festivals Coalition (CFC) Festivals and Major Events Canada (FAME) from 2006 to 2010.

"It is a great honor for me to be able to work at an event of international scale,” Fournier said. “It is even more stimulating as we enter the completion phase of the project.

Fournier will take office on September 21. He will be responsible for the continuity of operations, as well as setting up the infrastructures and the marketing plan for the 2018 World Equestrian Games.
